You may know this sleepy Argentine town from the movie Motorcycle Diaries. The pass that leads through the Andes to Chile is where Che Guevara crossed over by motorcycle as a young man. Today the town is very quaint, excellent restaurants, shops and a relaxing feel. San Martin is small enough to be charming, but big enough to have a great infrastructure for toursim. Cerro Chapelco is the ski resort at San Martin, and it has got some great off-piste hiking on the far northern flank of the ski center.
